  • What's Shibboleth?
    Shibboleth is an Authn/z framework developed by the Internet2 community. More information is available at the Shibboleth home page.

  • Why should I trust openidp.org identities?
    You shouldn't. These identies are available to anyone. They are the equivalent of a [Yahoo|MSN|Hotmail|Google|you name it] identity.

  • Why would I want to use openidp.org identities then?
    Because they are useful. They are available to anyone. They are the equivalent of a [Yahoo|MSN|Hotmail|Google|you name it] identity.

  • What if I don't want to use openidp.org as my identity provider?

    You are welcome and encourage to set up a Shibboleth identity provider of your own. For more information on setting one up please visit the Shibboleth home page.

  • Do I have to set up my own identity provider?

    No. You may be a member of an organization that is already capable of sharing your identity using Shibboleth. Such organizations typically participate in identity federations to increase the availablity of your identity. Two existing identity federations are InCommon and SDSS. If your organization is not listed as a member of these federations, please contact your technology support staff to determine if your organization supports Shibboleth and is eligabile to join these federations.

  • Why doesn't my browser trust your site?
    Your browser doesn't trust our certificate authority (CA).
    We're using a test certificate authority as a convenience for development. In order for your browser to not prompt you with security warnings when using the SSL services of this site, you must tell your browser to trust this CA. You can do this by importing the certificate for our CA into your browser. You can do that by clicking here.

  • Who's Bossie?
    The machine that runs the CA used for development purposes.

  • Why should I trust Bossie?
    There is no reason to trust Bossie, just as there is no reason to trust the identities supplied by openidp.org. It could, however, be useful.
